McGrath Street, Castlemaine
The McGrath Street project involved creative reuse of an early Victorian brick cottage in a state of disrepair. Works involved considerable conservation works to the original heritage cottage, retaining and reinstating original features. A modest addition has been added to the rear of the cottage, creating a relaxed contemporary living area that takes advantage of views to the existing building and the site. Simple passive solar design principles have been employed to maintain a comfortable year-round living environment.
